E-TOURIST VISA (ENABLED BY ETA)

Government of India has introduced e-Tourist Visa enables by ETA to facilitate foreign travelers visiting India. This new e-Tourist Visa is based on the Mission Mode Project IVFRT which has the objective of facilitating legitimate travelers while strengthening security. E-Tourist Visa is the most sought after way to tourists as they are not required to go through the tiresome process of visiting the embassy and then waiting for the approval. CURRENCY : Indian Rupee. Notes generally used in circulation are in the denominations of Rs. 2000, Rs. 500, Rs. 200, Rs. 100, Rs. 50, Rs. 20, Rs. 10, Rs. 5/-. Coins generally Used are of Rs. 5, Rs. 2, Re. 1/-.

MONEY EXCHANGE : Money Exchange services are also available at most major hotels & resorts and private money changers in the area. Most reputed banks such as HDFC, ICICI, Axis Bank etc also have ATMs that accept Master and Visa Card to withdraw cash. Travellers’ cheques of all major brands are easily changed. The currencies that are most widely and easily accepted are the US dollar and British Pound Sterling.

LANGUAGES : Konkani is the State language of Goa although It is English which is most commonly used and widely spoken. Hindi is also widely understood. A smallPercentage of the older generation still speaks Portuguese.
